The rain just won't stop, and neither will I while playing this game!

Recently on the PSN, Heavy Rain came out as a demo. After hearing so much hype about it, I decided to take a look see and see what it offered. And what did I find out?

I had stepped into gaming heaven.

In most cases, people may not like Heavy Rain's cinematic-like style where the player doesn't to much except move the stick and press buttons, nothing like you'd see in a Mario game or anything else that's recent. But you need to take a deeper look into it.
I did, and oh your god it's amazing!

The graphics get an easy 10/10, being the best graphics the Ps3 has to offer. The people almost look realistic, and the rain that just seems to keep coming is awesome, the player's clothes actually get darker as if they're getting wet the more you're in the rain.

Speaking of characters, for once in a game you can relate to these people, since they're more life-like and move like a real person. GTA4 came close, but I still felt like I was moving a stick man. Moving around however in Heavy Rain is a wee hard, since you gotta push R2 in in order to walk forward, like you're driving a car in GTA4 or Burnout Paradise, but you get used to it pretty easily.

The camera angles are a little confusing, since it's like FF7 and the first Resident Evils where the camera is fixed. Luckily you can change the camera's view to make it easier, other times you gotta think and adapt to the camera. Thank god this isn't the case during fight scenes, since all you need to do is press buttons and flick the control stick.

Also, Heavy Rain has the most amazing story ever. We all remember how GTA4 has four different paths, killing off either Playboy or Dwayne, and later on either Revenge or Deal, but Heavy Rain takes that a step further. I've played the demo twice through now, and both times for the first part it was completely different. The first time I played it, the whore was nice and pleasant, although really sad, and it was good. I also didn't get slashed by a broken bottle from her abusive "client" that time either. Second time around I got her pissed, and got slashed. Cool part was, the slash on my gut stayed. Amazing? Yes. Not many games do that.

I can't wait to own that game, and I will get it whenever I get some cash (spent close to 40 bucks on yugioh cards this weekend, (and yes I'm a complete geek). I'm sure Heavy Rain will be amazing, and you all will be the first to hear it when I own it =P.

Bayonetta: Devil May Cry again?

All the hype about Bayonetta... Is pretty damn true. Just downloaded the demo for the game today (well more like last night, but whatever). Played through the tutorial and first climax, and I gotta say it's pretty awesome. Nowhere near as repetitive as it's older brother DMC, in fact I think it's a lot better. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is sweet (albeit a little touchy) and the story seems well thought out.

Now if only they could think of better damn cut scenes. The movie film style is a bit disorienting.

Pros:
 - Gameplay is amazing
 - Graphics are top notch.
 - Story seems good
 - Not repetitive
 - The hype about it is true, a great pure action game
 - It's really fun, like oh fuck yeah.

Cons
 - Cut scenes are disorienting
 - The people are all completely black
 - A bit touchy, but that's easy to get used to.

I definitely recommend trying out Bayonetta, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

My overall score for it is 8/10, since the cut scenes bring it down a good bit.

Grand Theft Auto 4 Review

Grand Theft Auto 4, the most recent game to come out from Rockstar Games (excluding the episodes).

Starring Niko Bellic, an illegal immigrant hoping to make it big in the land of opportunity: Liberty City. If you know the GTA series well enough, you know EXACTLY that everything does not go well for our hero.

In a nutshell: Grand Theft Auto 4 is Number 1 of my all time favorite games to play. Why? The story is amazing, the gameplay is awesome, the character development is intense, and the graphics are top-notch. I've beaten it twice (once under 30 hours) and loved it both times. Niko Bellic is my favorite character of all time, because he's so well done and human-like, better than most characters you'd see in Assassin's Creed or Saints Row 2.

You never get bored in Liberty City, whether it's playing pool with Little Jacob or doing missions for the Mobs, you never run out of things to do. Even when you beat the game you can cause the classic havoc like in all GTA games, or go visit some easter eggs like the fabled Heart of Liberty Statue, or the glitches like Blue Hell. They may have taken away some good elements from the past games, but everything about GTA4 makes up for it in the end.

The story for GTA4 is so intense, dealing with betrayal, friendships, deaths, and other troubles you'd expect to find in the lives of the citizens of the underground. At some points in the story, I felt exactly what Niko felt, that's how strong his character is. You can't help but feel sympathy for the guy at times. He gets betrayed so many times you lose count by the time you're half way done the game.

The other characters you meet in the game will either make you love them or hate them. I personally love listening to Little Jacob ramble on with his Jamaican accent, and listening to Roman and his wild dreams is pretty freakin' hilarious. I hate listening to Brucie, he's really quite annoying. Dimitri is an ass, so once you meet him and he betrays you, you just can't WAIT to put that final bullet in his head.

I'm getting tired, so I'm going to wrap it up.
Grand Theft Auto 4 deserves all the hype and greatness it has, it's truly one of the best games around and you can't go wrong with it, whether you're a veteran to the GTA series or a complete newb. The game will keep you occupied for hours, and even if you get tired of doing missions, there's no harm in causing a bit of havoc right? 'Course not.

Grand Theft Auto 4 gets a full 10/10, having keeping me coming back to it again and again for continuous play and adventure.

Also, a tip: Revenge is a dish best served cold. You'll know what I mean with that if you get the game and the time comes in it.

The Twilight Series: Review of the first Movie (and the book kind of)

Just recently I finally got to see the Twilight movie. Most people usually don't want to read or watch the movie due to the vampires being shiny, or that they don't like romances, or some other weird reason.
But I'll say this, you're missing out on a great book if you haven't read it. The movie? Another story.

The movie itself was good, some parts (I read the books first) made me think "Hey, this didn't happen... That's not supposed to happen now..." etc. It really was all over the place, very choppy, and at the end of the movie it gives you an empty feeling, because you have no idea what the heck just happened.
Still, it made me want to reread the books, which I'm currently doing.

The movie really only touched upon the key moments in the book, which is really why it skipped a lot of parts. Of course, trying to fit a huge book like Twilight into a movie around an hour to an hour and a half is hard. With that said, it felt more like a preview of the book than an actual move in honor of the book.

However, if you think you might like Twilight, or you don't think you do. Give the movie a shot and see if you like what you see, if you do or just want to try the books for the heck of it, go get those books. Stephanie Meyer did a wonderful job writing them, and even though the first two books of hers are slow to get going into the good parts, it will still keep you turning those pages.

Overall score for the movie?
3/5. It'll leave you empty but make you want to read the book, hopefully.

Overall score for the book?
7/10. Hard to get into at first because of the slow nature, but it picks up the pace and gets you hooked instantly.

A New Beginning, a new use.

If you haven't been here before, then it's a welcome back! If not, it's a hello!

The name's Alex, but I go by many other names I don't feel like listing.

I'm a Spriter, Writer, Gamer, Drawer, and your average Grade 12er who goes through too much shit. But don't worry, you won't hear me whining about my problems on here. At least, unless I really need to vent.

Instead I'll be doing reviews. Overdone? Maybe. But I don't care, more reviews don't hurt. Besides, I plan on leaving it open instead of closed.
What'll I be reviewing? Comics and Games mainly.
